Tracking Net Worth Across Multiple Currencies

The problem with holding several currencies: you can't see the total

If you have a domestic account plus a USD or EUR account abroad, hold stocks or funds priced in a foreign currency, or simply keep some foreign cash on hand, each account is clear enough on its own. But knowing your overall total, your actual net worth, is where it gets messy: you'd have to look up the day's exchange rate yourself, convert everything line by line, and still risk getting it wrong as rates shift or you misremember a number. Making it worse, many mainstream finance apps are built to support only a single currency from the ground up, and simply can't handle a multi-currency situation at all — forcing you to maintain a separate conversion spreadsheet on the side just to see where you stand.

Record each account in its own currency; let the app convert

ArkFlow's approach: each card is recorded faithfully in its actual currency, with absolutely no manual conversion needed at entry time. A USD account is entered in dollars, a HKD account in Hong Kong dollars, a fund priced in euros is recorded in euros — none of them need to be converted into each other up front. When you check your overall net worth, ArkFlow converts everything to your chosen base currency at current exchange rates and adds it all together at that moment, with no calculator and no separate tab open to check today's exchange rate.

Pick your own base currency, and switching is simple

Your base currency is the single unit your net worth total is shown in — set it to your home currency, or whatever currency is actually meaningful in your day-to-day life. No matter how many countries or currencies your accounts span, what you see on the overview screen is total assets, total liabilities, and net worth all converted into that one currency, making it straightforward to compare across time instead of mentally juggling several currencies and estimating each one separately. If your life circumstances change later — moving back from abroad, say — you can switch your base currency at any time without disturbing the account data you've already entered.

Exchange rates update live, not frozen at entry time

ArkFlow converts using current exchange rates, which means that even if you haven't touched a foreign account's balance in months, your net worth total still moves as the exchange rate moves. It reflects what those assets would be worth in your base currency right now, not a historical snapshot from whenever you last opened that card and typed in a number. This matters especially if you hold meaningful foreign-currency assets: the account balance itself hasn't changed, but the converted value in your base currency may have quietly risen or fallen — and seeing that reflected promptly is what makes the number an honest picture of where you actually stand.

Who this is for

If you work or live abroad long-term, hold assets across more than one country, regularly move between currency regions, or simply have a few accounts in different currencies and want a clear combined total, automatic multi-currency conversion saves a real amount of time you'd otherwise spend looking up rates and running a calculator. None of this requires understanding foreign exchange trading or arbitrage — you just enter each account's balance in its own currency as usual, and the conversion work is handled for you.
